Puerto Morelos Responds to Rainy Season with Active Serviced Public Brigades
The rainy season in Puerto Morelos has prompted Serviced Public brigades to activate to address localized flooding and keep streets clear and safe. Mayor Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz has emphasized the importance of maintaining constant presence to mitigate effects of rainfall. The brigades have been working to clear debris, drain clogged sewers, and perform preventive maintenance in key areas. Despite no major inundations so far, the brigades have addressed several localized water accumulation points, ensuring mobility and safety for residents.

Leonel Salazar Trejo, the Secretary of Serviced Public, reported that 60 workers are part of six brigades, each focusing on specific areas of the municipality. These brigades have been active in cleaning up vegetation, clearing clogged sewers, and draining drainage systems. Additionally, they have been conducting preventive maintenance to reduce risks during the rainy season.
Ariel Alberto Padilla Cámara, the Director of Sewers, Beach Cleanups, Footprints, Markets, and Cemeteries, mentioned that the brigades have attended to streets such as Timón and Brújula, as well as Villas La Playa, ensuring that these areas remain safe and accessible for residents.
