Why do you have to go to the subway to refill your OMNY card just to take the bus?

I'm tired of having to walk up and down stairs just to refill my OMNY card before I can take the bus. Can't they just have ticket machines like the subway outside at the bus stops?

If you have an OMNY card, you can actually reload it online, so you don't have to go to the subway to refill it.

I've only used my physical transit card and have never visited a vending kiosk machine since, opting instead to reload using the website from home.

For added convenience, you can also visit local retailers like CVS, Walgreens, or 7-Eleven to refill your transit card, allowing you to skip the subway stop altogether.

If you have a credit card with a chip, you can simply tap it on the bus to make a payment, eliminating the need for an OMNY card or a phone.

You can use any card that allows you to make purchases, so there's no need to visit a machine to reload your transit card.
