What are the top hiking trails near Popocatépetl for a 7-day Mexico City trip?

I am visiting cdmx staying near La Condesa November 1-8 and would like to go on a nature hike with my boyfriend. We are not hardcore hikers, but are fit and active. I see there are many trails near Popocatépetl and would love to get a view of it.

The difficulty level of the trails varies, with some being quite challenging. You'll find both easy and hard trails on the map. Popocatépetl is located outside the city and is considered a difficult hike. Before attempting any trail, check the reviews and plan accordingly.

Parque Chapultepec and Los Dinamos offer great views and are easily accessible by public transit. These areas are perfect for light hiking and provide a relatively easy experience.

For transportation, consider joining a guided group. Public transit options are limited, and navigating the area without proper guidance can be risky. It's not worth the risk of getting lost or stranded.

As a freelance guide in the Izta-Popo region, I can offer personalized assistance. If you're looking for a unique experience, such as visiting ancient ruins in a lesser-known town, I'd be happy to help you plan your trip.

I'm looking for a technical dayhike that I can complete in a day, with a challenging traverse trail that offers scenic views. The trail should be easily accessible by public transit from Cuautitlán, and I'd prefer a route with some scrambling and cliff sections.

One challenging route starts from Paso de Cortes and takes you to La Joya, the Shark Mouth, the Red Walls, and finally to Apatlaco. This route typically takes around 5-6 hours to complete and can be done in one day. Be sure to download the map and have it available for reference.
