We live in Echo Park and want to explore all options for our 3yo (turning 4 in January). My wife and I both work busy jobs, so we're thinking it might benefit us to have some help.

We used public and private school consultants before choosing a school for our kids. We were happy with our choice, and I'd be happy to share more information with you if you're interested. One thing that worked well for us was getting a sense of the school culture and community.

For example, school websites often have outdated information, and there are different types of applications, such as Choices and neighborhood schools. Each school also has its own unique application process and deadlines.

I think some people are mocking us because they're jealous of our socio-economic status. They might not understand the complexities of the school system, but that doesn't mean we're not entitled to our opinions and experiences.

I talked to a school consultant a while back, but she didn't seem very helpful. In the end, I decided to put my kids in the local school in Culver City. It's been a wonderful experience, and I have zero complaints about the school.

As a parent, I take education very seriously. While I think it's great to focus on academics, I also believe that elementary school is a time for kids to explore and learn in a more holistic way. My older kids are now academically outstanding, and I'm proud of the people they've become.
