My partner and I have 4 nights booked at Tokipa in Punta Sayulita between Christmas and New Year's, and I'm starting to second guess it. We're an older couple, no kids, just looking to relax. Our perfect day is playing cribbage, eating really good food, and having a few cocktails somewhere we can sit and people watch. Not into the party scene at all.

If staying at Tokipa, consider renting a golf cart or side by side to get around. The streets that run east of the plaza, like Zarquito, have rental places and are relatively quiet, even during events. Sayulita's terrain is hilly, so walking can be a challenge. To minimize walking time without renting a vehicle, it's best to stay close to the center. The north side has many quieter spots, and Bar La Isla on the beach is a great spot for a calm day, perfect for playing cards.

The road to Tokipa is a dirt and cobblestone path with winding roads, which can be challenging to navigate, especially at night. It's not a well-lit road.

Sayulita's jungle location means wind is not a significant issue, unlike beach towns. The terrain is hilly, with elevation changes between the center and other areas.

During the holiday season, the downtown area can be noisier than usual due to events. Even 2 kilometers away from the center, you can hear the sounds of celebrations.

We stayed a bit up the hill from the center, near a construction site. Despite the noise, it didn't bother us. We actually prefer San Pancho for its laid-back atmosphere.

To minimize noise, consider staying near the plaza and bringing a portable speaker to play soothing sounds at bedtime.
