Who bows last when you both want the last mango?
Chiara Greco · Ancient Town, Hoi An · Oct 14
We both reached for the last mango at Hoi An Central Market at the same time, and our hands arrived together. You pulled back and bowed. I pulled back and bowed. We did this three more times, each bow a little deeper, until the seller took the mango and ate it herself. You were laughing so hard that you had to hold the stall. So was I. We did not speak. I would buy you a mango now, and I would let you go first, and I would not bow.
