I'm planning to move to Bang Kachao and want to know more about renting a place there. I've heard it's a bit isolated, but I'm not sure what to expect.

I spent a few weekends there and fell in love with the place. It's convenient to access the city if you need anything, but I'm not sure about finding long-term rentals. There are a few homestays that might welcome extended guests. For shopping and entertainment, you'll find markets and minimarts, and if those don't have what you're looking for, there are more shops just a short ferry ride away. Keep in mind that many cafes and restaurants are only open during the day.

Be prepared for unexpected encounters with wildlife, such as snakes and lizards. The area is a nature reserve, so it's not surprising to see some unusual creatures.

I've been riding my bike there for 20 years, and it's amazing how much development has taken place. However, it's still a lovely place. One thing to consider is that if you need to get in or out by car, it can take a surprisingly long time, especially if you're coming from a place like Silom. For example, it can take up to 45 minutes with moderate traffic.
