Traveling from Dubai to South Africa

Traveling from Dubai to South Africa with a kitten, what are my options?

I'm planning to move to South Africa with my kitten and I'm looking for advice on traveling with them from Dubai. I've heard horror stories about some airlines, but I've heard Emirates is a good option. I also considered flying with Etihad, but they don't go to my final destination. Can anyone share their experience with traveling with cats from Dubai, specifically with Emirates or Etihad?

Another airline to consider for in-cabin pet travel is Turkish Airlines' competitor.

I've had experience with cats traveling in cargo with Emirates. My cats were 2+ years old and didn't seem to be affected by the trip.

I flew from Dubai to Chicago with my cat in cargo and it was very easy. You'll need special paperwork from your vet and an approved cage, but other than that it was straightforward. My cat was curled up in her blanket asleep when I picked her up at the baggage claim.
