Cancun is a tourist attraction and they need to keep the resorts, clubs, and parks secure to protect the economy. Maybe what you're hearing is just a one-time incident involving someone who was drunk or took something they shouldn't have.

Safety-wise, they used to be okay a few years ago, but they've become part of territorial disputes between cartels. The ones under cartel control are pressured to sell as much illegal stuff as possible. It's not just about the safety risks, but also the moral aspect of human trafficking and exploitation.

I think it's best to avoid strip clubs in Cancun altogether. Not only are they full of undesirables, but they're also linked to cartels trafficking women and small-time dealers pushing their merchandise.
