I'm heading to Los Cabos next weekend with my daughter and we'll be staying at an all-inclusive hotel, but we'll also be going on excursions and shopping. I want to know how much money to bring and whether I should bring pesos or USD, or both.

To avoid unfavorable exchange rates, consider exchanging your money at a local bank. This way, you can get the best possible rate and avoid any potential losses due to poor math skills. It's also a good idea to withdraw a sufficient amount of pesos to cover your expenses during your stay.

During my week-long trip to Los Cabos in July, I carried only $50 in cash and relied on my credit card for the rest. I spent approximately $100-$200 per day, depending on my shopping habits in San Jose Del Cabo. To avoid any issues with credit card transactions, I made sure to select the local currency option on the machines.

You can easily obtain the local currency by withdrawing pesos or USD from official bank ATMs using your debit card. This way, you can avoid carrying large amounts of cash and minimize the risk of losing it.

In contrast to other Mexican cities I've visited, Cabo's taxi drivers often struggle with understanding tolls in pesos. To avoid any confusion, it's a good idea to bring some local currency with you.

As a regular visitor to Cabo, I've noticed a significant increase in the number of places that accept card payments. In fact, I haven't used cash since 2020, and even Uber is widely available in the area.
