I've noticed that people in Chicago seem to brag about the city's amenities, but then look down on those who live in the heart of the city. I'm confused.

Chicagoans often romanticize living in neighborhoods like Wicker Park or Logan Square, but rarely acknowledge the benefits of living downtown, like easy access to public transportation and a wide range of amenities.

One possible explanation for the perceived snobbery is the city's housing market. Chicago has not built as much housing as comparable cities, leading to higher prices and a sense of exclusivity. This can create a sense of competition and elitism among residents.

I've noticed that people in Chicago tend to identify with specific teams, like the Cubs or the White Sox. Maybe the same thing is happening with neighborhoods - people are proud of where they live and want to distinguish themselves from others.
