What's the current state of Cabo Verde?

What's the current state of Cabo Verde?

I live in the Cabo Verde neighborhood and have seen the area deteriorate since the 2022 announcements of social projects to improve the quality of life. I've noticed an increase in poverty, crime, and neglect, with buildings left unpainted and trash and sewage overflowing. I'm looking for an update on the current state of the neighborhood and what's being done to address these issues.

The area is quite rough, especially around Avenida. There are frequent traffic jams and a strong smell of trash is overwhelming. Additionally, there are issues with flooding and crime. It's unfortunate, as it's a major route for people commuting to work or school.

The government in Panama is doing a terrible job of helping people in need. It's not just about lack of funding, it's also about corruption and incompetence. But at the same time, the communities themselves need to take responsibility for their areas and not rely on the government to fix everything.

Living among trash and squalor isn't just a government issue, it's also a matter of personal responsibility. Many people in Panama would rather rely on government handouts than look for work or find other ways to improve their lives. If it weren't for the 30% of the population who are more hardworking and responsible, we'd be in an even worse state than Haiti or Cuba.

You might think it's just a matter of personal choice where people live, but the government actually has a role to play in addressing the issue. Many homeless people have severe mental health problems and addiction issues that need to be addressed through programs and services. And as for Cabo Verde itself, it might be better to demolish it and start over with a new, more sustainable design.

Unfortunately, the area is like this because of the residents themselves. They're the ones who litter and create their own mess. If you moved them to a different area, they'd just bring their habits with them and make the new place dirty too.
