Can I leave the AC off while we're gone in Phoenix?

We're going on a 4-day trip out of town and I'm not sure if it's safe to leave the AC off with the windows closed, given the average high temperature will be in the 70s with one day showing 80s. We have no plants or pets, but I'm still concerned about the inside temperature.

I wouldn't recommend turning off the AC entirely. Instead, you could adjust the thermostat to allow for some air circulation in the home by increasing the temperature.

You'll likely be okay during this time of year because many people turn off their AC as the weather cools down. It's a common practice, especially in regions with mild temperatures during the spring and fall.

In my area, there's a transitional period of about a month where I only use the AC between 3 pm and sunset due to my west-facing window, which receives direct sunlight during this time.

As someone with a west-facing home, I try to be mindful of my energy consumption and think about the potential impact on my electric bill when deciding whether to use the AC.

Usually when I go out of town I move the AC back to 80. If it runs it runs. If it doesn't it doesn't.
