What to do with a found racing pigeon?

I found a gorgeous white racing pigeon in Brooklyn. He's banded but no numbers, just a name. I'm not sure if he's tired or injured, and we have a feral cat colony. The Wildlife Center of Brooklyn (WBF) cannot take tagged pigeons. I have him in a box in the bathroom to rest with water and seed. It's raining until Sunday.

Consider taking the bird to a wildlife rehabilitation facility in the Bronx. They will likely be able to assist him.

The Dreaming of a Chance bird sanctuary in the NYC area takes in domesticated pigeons. However, they are located upstate, so you'll need to arrange transportation for the bird. If you're concerned about the bird's health, you can contact the Center for Avian and Exotic Medicine, which also sees pet birds and may be able to provide additional resources or referrals.

I found nyc pigeon rescue central, which has a Facebook page and a website. You can send them an email with a description of the bird in the subject line. They also have a helpline at urbanwildlifenyc.org. Additionally, there's stringfoot rescue help and the Long Island Parrot Society, which may be able to help connect you with an avian vet or a local bird rescuer.
