Austin Domande & Risposte

I recently converted a covered patio into a small 10x10 room and used a general contractor who didn't pull an electrical permit. Now we're in a bind and I'm looking for advice on how to get an inspection done with minimal damage.

I'm considering building a fence in my South Austin neighborhood, but I want to make sure I comply with the city code. I've heard that fences over 7 feet tall require a special permit, but I'm not sure what the process is or how strict the city is about enforcing this rule.

I've noticed a decline in the number of graffiti tags in my neighborhood, particularly from Buscar and Stench, who used to be notorious in Austin. Do they just move on after a few months, or do they get arrested or age out of it?

I'm a French person new to Austin, planning to adopt my first cat with my girlfriend tomorrow. We're considering Austin Pets Alive, Austin Animal Center, and Austin Humane Society, but have read some negative reviews about APA and heard the adoption process at AAC can be confusing. We're looking for a young adult cat (1-4 years old) and want to know about the staff's honesty and the ease of the adoption process.

I'm a 30sF Austin resident looking for recurring, casual, and affordable events in central, east, or south Austin, ideally with a small group and calm environment, and at reasonable times for early risers. I enjoy activities like walking, nature, deep conversations, Latin dance, reading, and gardening, and prefer diverse spaces.

I've had tiny ants in my kitchen all summer, and I've been using terro liquid ant bait to get rid of them. But now they're back, and this time there are two kinds: small ones and bigger ones about 3 times the size of the first. I've put out more terro bait, but it's like they've figured out it's poison and are ignoring it. Any tips to get rid of late summer beefy ants?

I've noticed that when people on the feeder are slowing down to turn onto a perpendicular road, drivers behind them often cut off by driving into the yellow stripes to avoid slowing down. This creates a problem for people trying to turn right into the feeder because it's unclear if an impatient driver will barrel through.

I've noticed the bananas I buy at HEB taste weird and don't ripen like they used to. I've had to throw out my smoothies because of it. Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm responsible for yard maintenance in my lease, but I don't want to damage the utility pipe that leads to the electric meter on the side of my house. I need to remove a small tree that's pushing against the pipe, but I'm not sure who to call or what to do.

I was hit by a driver who ran a red light on North Loop & Guadalupe on 9/22/26. The driver is denying it and I'm trying to get evidence to support my claim. I've learned that Austin's traffic cameras don't record footage, but I'm wondering if any of them do.

I'm concerned about a T-shaped intersection where drivers turning left often fail to yield to pedestrians, resulting in numerous near-miss incidents for me and likely others.
