I'm an Argentine woman who visits Luang Prabang a couple of times a year, planning to cross from Thailand to Huay Xai by land border, and I'm concerned about safety due to stories of kidnapping and trafficking.

I would advise against crossing late in the day. One issue I encountered was drunk tuk tuk drivers at the border after dark, which made the experience more challenging.
